Step Out Dance Competition
Our TWPS dance crew took part in the Step Out dance competition on Thursday, April 27.
Our students were very dedicated and put a lot of hard work into learning and rehearsing their routine this year. They executed their routine with precision and were excellent representatives of our school at the competition.
Thank you Ms. Fumo, Ms. Bojarski and Ms. Krackovitch for coaching our team.
We are extremely proud of them as they came in FIRST PLACE - way to go team!
Here are some photos from the event.
Our school name will now take pride of place beneath the YRDSB Champions plaque!

Immunization Information for 2017-18
In the 2017/18 school year, York
Region Public Health will visit all elementary schools to provide school
immunization clinics to Grade 7 students. The clinics offer vaccines for Hepatitis B, Human
Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Meningococcal A, C, Y, W-135 at no cost.
Under the Immunization of School
Pupils Act, meningococcal vaccine is required for school attendance, unless an
exemption is filed with public health. Hepatitis B and HPV vaccines are
recommended, but not required for school attendance.
Parents of students entering Grade
7 in fall 2017 will receive consent forms in the mail in June. Please complete
the consent form and return it to York Region Public Health to allow your child
to participate in the immunization clinics. Detailed instructions can be found
on the forms and accompanying letter. If the consent form is not completed,
your child will not be able to receive vaccines at the clinic.
Parents and guardians who do not
consent should still complete the forms and return them, indicating that you do
not authorize York Region Public Health to immunize your child.
Visit york.ca/immunizations and click on School Immunization Clinics for more
information.

Au Cafe - authentic French conversations in our Junior Division
Junior students took on the role of cafe entrepreneurs! They created menus and then in French described the items on their menus, encouraging the patrons to "order" from them.
Students enjoyed an opportunity for some authentic French conversation and observers easily imagined themselves in a Parisian cafe!

International Day of Pink
What is the Day of Pink?
April 12, 2017 marks the International Day of Pink. It is a day where communities across the country, and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, and all forms of bullying.
The International Day of Pink was started in Nova Scotia when 2 straight high school students saw a gay student wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The 2 students intervened, but wanted to do more to prevent homophobic & transphobic bullying. They decided to purchase pink shirts, and a few days later got everyone at school to arrive wearing pink, standing in solidarity. The result was that an entire school took a stand and began working together to prevent homophobic & transphobic bullying.
The message was clear: anyone can bully, any can be victimized by bullying, but together we can stop it.
Let's wear PINK on Wednesday to show that, just as our Touchstone states, we are committed to stamp out bullying so that everyone can feel safe and valued!
Skills Ontario presentation to Intermediate students
Intermediate students enjoyed a presentation by Wendy from Skills Ontario - during this session, Wendy highlighted various paths to future post-secondary success that do not always include a university degree. We were joined by our Superintendent, Mr. Tod Dungey and by our Ward 4 Councillor, Sandra Yeung Racco. Following Wendy's presentation, Councillor Racco spent some time expanding on the opportunities Wendy had highlighted and describing Vaughan City Council's role in supporting and mentoring post-secondary students.
