Au Cafe - authentic French conversations in our Junior Division
Junior students took on the role of cafe entrepreneurs! They created menus and then in French described the items on their menus, encouraging the patrons to "order" from them.
Students enjoyed an opportunity for some authentic French conversation and observers easily imagined themselves in a Parisian cafe!

International Day of Pink
What is the Day of Pink?
April 12, 2017 marks the International Day of Pink. It is a day where communities across the country, and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, and all forms of bullying.
The International Day of Pink was started in Nova Scotia when 2 straight high school students saw a gay student wearing a pink shirt being bullied. The 2 students intervened, but wanted to do more to prevent homophobic & transphobic bullying. They decided to purchase pink shirts, and a few days later got everyone at school to arrive wearing pink, standing in solidarity. The result was that an entire school took a stand and began working together to prevent homophobic & transphobic bullying.
The message was clear: anyone can bully, any can be victimized by bullying, but together we can stop it.
Let's wear PINK on Wednesday to show that, just as our Touchstone states, we are committed to stamp out bullying so that everyone can feel safe and valued!
Skills Ontario presentation to Intermediate students
Intermediate students enjoyed a presentation by Wendy from Skills Ontario - during this session, Wendy highlighted various paths to future post-secondary success that do not always include a university degree. We were joined by our Superintendent, Mr. Tod Dungey and by our Ward 4 Councillor, Sandra Yeung Racco. Following Wendy's presentation, Councillor Racco spent some time expanding on the opportunities Wendy had highlighted and describing Vaughan City Council's role in supporting and mentoring post-secondary students.
