Kindergarten visit to Kortright Centre

On March 8th the first group of Kindergarten students took part in a fun-filled day at Kortright Centre. As part of the Maple Syrup Festival, each class went on a guided walk through one of the many trails. The students loved discovering nature while learning how maple syrup is made. Many children were excited about what they saw and heard, shared new wonderings and could not stop talking about the delicious and sweet real maple syrup that they tried. It was a fabulous day to explore the outdoors! Stay tuned for more pictures of future trips!

Carnaval d'hiver

February 29 - March 4 marked the week that TWPS celebrated Carnaval D'Hiver.

The entire school engaged in a spirited celebration of winter and learned a whole lot of French in the process! Each day we all dressed up to recognize a specific aspect of Carnaval -une mascotte (mascot), a lumberjack, wearing clothing inside out or backwards for "Wacky Wednesday" and entertaining the King and Queen with a poem or skit en Francais, or a folkdance to French music.

Students in Grades 4-8 were given "Bingo-type" clues each day as to who would be crowned Le Roi and La Reine du Carnaval!  All staff were involved but Ms. Krackovitch, Mr. MacDonald and Mr. Goodman were especially important as you can see in the photos below. On Thursday (March 3) our French teachers teamed up with some wonderful parent volunteers to make and  serve every student in Gr. 4-8 delicious chocolate chip pancakes complete with toppings.

Many thanks to those parent volunteers and to our amazing French Team, Mesdames Kimmerly, Spigelman, Elkabas and Goldberg for organizing this spirit-filled week in celebration of winter and the French language. Our competent and enthusiastic Student Council led by our Intermediate teachers and the Tech Team led by Mr. Murray, were integral to the entire process and especially to the finale assembly on Friday, March 4th.
